Dear all,
I have recently upgraded my parents PC from 8.2 to 9.0. Unfortunately,
when it came to configure X during update it appeared to crash, so I
reset my machine and configured X through XFdrake. It all seems to be
running fine now.
My problem is that when I boot up, instead of kicking

Todd,
Excellent - so far so good. I booted from CD2 and downloaded and ran
install with 'patch noauto' from 8.2. We are over half way through
install now!

Unfortunately, there isn't any PCMCIA type commands in my BIOS (Standard

to no avail. Does anyone have any clues - would be nice to get 9.0 on my
laptop.

This is driving me crazy - I just can't see what the problem is here. I
have set gcc-2.96 as the standard with 'update-alternatives --config

Looking at the shell blurb (below) it looks like there is a problem with

Dear all
I have installed gcc2.96-2.96-0.80mdk.i586.rpm (along with 3.2) under

I:

Have given this a shot, but unfortunately it didn't work! For 8.2 I had

unfortunately, this does not work either...
Has anyone else had a similar problem and know how to get around it?
Thanks,

Dear all,
It seems to me that a lot of the user-interactivity has been lost with
Gnome 2. Most things have been automated and I can't see how to

I am concerned though that I will lose the 'Applications' Menu,
'Actions' Menu and that task switcher thingy and not be able to get them
back!?! Will they reappear on my menu at the bottom?
