Promise Ultra66 card. The following procedure may allow MDK to see your PCI
fasttrak device and allow the installatiion to proceed. I can't make any
guarantees.

only one session on the CDR. CD players can only read the first session,
but I don't think this will be a problem for you in Linux.

I was under the impression that you can change a primary partition to an
extended partition in order to create voluminous logical partitions within
that extended partition. I use PM5, and it looks like this is what PM5
does.

Norm, I agree. Using PM makes the hard work obsolete. If you don't use a
nice partitioning program like PM, then you will have to use Linux fdisk and
apply all the rationale previously mentioned in Laurent's E-mail.

The Mandrake kernel doesn't ship with the IDE patch included. Suse
developed the patch but it is still somewhat buggy. The other distros still
hesitate to use it.

CD-R's. You will then have two CD's and you will be able to supply CD2 when
you are prompted to do so.

There should be two iso image files. One should be the typical size of
650Mb. The other is 351Mb. The names are mandrake71-inst.iso and

the necessary drivers to access the devices attached to the UDMA66
controller. It is more about support of the controller than about support
of the hard drives.

/boot partition for each distro. The older version of LILO couldn't boot
above the 1024th cylinder, so it was necessary for me to install LILO into a
small (<20Mb) /boot partition that resided below the 1024th
