I would like to say that I was very pleased with version 8.0 . I also
found that other .1 versions like 7.1 , 8.1 did not function very well
and did not fully work.
BUT
9.1 has been and is my favorite version to date. It is perfectly stable
for me on three different boxes.

Not sure how to get grub to boot, but it's probably easier than lilo.
IIRC, you need something like:
vi /etc/lilo.conf and change any hdb references to hda
/sbin/lilo -r /mnt/aroot -b /dev/hda
If you get errors, abort and figure out why. Make sure you h

I was looking for someone who has this EXACT printer working in MDK 9.0,

Hi all ,

I had my working when I first installed MDK 9 but it won't work now .
I know it still works as i moved it to another box ( 98lite ) and it
works fine.
I did the usual updates ( no cooker ) , maybe this broke it ?

Currently triple booting 98lite; MDK 8.0 kernel 2.4.3-20;
MDK 9.0 kernel 2.4.19-16
I must agree with this estimation.
I have a perfect 8.0 install that has everything working PERFECTLY !
I now have a 9.0 install that seems to also work perfectly. ( seems to
so far that is ;-) )
But I couldn't get 8.2 to work on my "crappy hardware" ;-) ;-) ;-)

Yes a windows reinstall , even on top of the old one will distroy lilo.
but getting back to lilo is very easy!
if you made a mandrake boot disk during install , or can make one now,
do so .
have it handy, and go ahead and reinstall windows. ( just do it on top -
don't need to format nothin' )

HI ,
have a strange problem,
on rebooting from win98 I get a strange message during bootup
it says for this file :< /etc/rc.d/rc :[ missing "]" >
can the rc file be regenerated ?
Have tried to install lm_sensors which require adding lines to
/etc/rc and /etc/modules.conf
and the message
Howdy,
How can I update , or install a later Kernel, when doing a new install
of LM 8.0 from the 3cd box set? The default kernel is 2.4.3-20mdk.
I wish to update it enough to use a ext3fs if possible, without updating
to 8.1. ( sorry but it won't run on my setup , though I wish it did! )
anyway
I appreciate the response,
However I don't know what tune2fs is or how to use it , even after
reading the man page. and it makes no reference to changing ext2 to ext3.
a bit more explanation please
