I just upgraded my workstation here and it seems that I can no longer
install Mandrake.
I've tried MNF 8.2, Mandrake 9.0, and 9.1.
I can boot off the first CD, but when I hit enter to start the
installation, the bar gets about 9/10ths of the way across and then my
screen goes blank and the Caps

Why don't you disconnect the slave drive until the installation is
complete. That way you get Linux installed and up and running.
Then connect the slave and configure it using hardrake/diskdrake.

I've got a usb connected drive that causes the same problem. When I
went to f1 and chose expert install then said no or cancel to the two
extra questions it didn't hang on the detection don't know why it
works... just that it did.

I think that the questionable partition is the /boot. Did you specify
that in DiskDrake as your /boot partition? Did you tell lilo to use the
hda1 or hda to install the boot loader?
Suggestion, try using FDISK instead of diskdrake. Diskdrake is a very
handy tool, but it isn't perfect.

Hello,
i tried to install Linux-Mandrake 7.1 GPL Edition, but it failed after
loading the SCSI driver (dc395x_trm, Tekram DC395U). The error message is
"i could not mount a device on /dev/scd0" (this comes up very quickly, without
any lights flashing on the CDROM). When i confirm this with "ok"
Hi,
I've been trying to install IBM DB2 V7.1 on a pretty much clean installation
of Mandrake 7.1, and hitting a few problems.
Initially, the install (db2setup) failed because it couldn't find db2. I
manually added the /usr/IBMdb2/V7.1/bin directory to the path, then re-ran
the installer. The

Yes, that's what the message sounded like to me, but it didn't seem likely.
I have set it up (on 2 disks) with:
128M/
32M swap
1.8G/var
5G /home
256Mswap
256M/tmp
3.5G/usr
That seems to me to allow plenty of space. And it should leave much more
than 843k
I would lower /home to 3GB and increase / to 2 GB.
Just a suggestion,
Matt
