Hey Tonya! Thanks for the reassurance. I am planning on getting another cat, but I thought I should wait until after we retest Slinky so I'm sure of his felv status (and then can get a pos or neg cat depending on the results). The vet wants to wait a few more months before retesting. Yes,
Thanks Kat!! I'm at the conference hotel now...and doing okay. I did talk to Slinky and told him I'd be back. He still looked sad when I left this morning, but I just kept reassuring him that I love him and I'll be back. I'm sure he'll be fine. Thanks for the tips...and the hugs!!! Have a g

It's always hard to leave them, but sometimes you have to. It sounds like you've done everything you can to make Slinky comfortable while you're gone. I'm sure he'll be fine. Have you thought about getting another cat so he won't be alone when you're not home? tonyaMarissa Johnson <[EMAIL PR
Hi MJ,
Slinky will be just fine, and will welcome you back with hugs and kitty
kisses!! Talk to him now, as if he understands words, and tell him what
is going on, and when you'll be back, and that you'll bring him back a
kitty present, etc. By talking to him out loud you will be able to relax

Karen, do you know Brenda Haines, of Sphynx Rescue Ohio? She's a good

yeah, people'd bring FeLVs (and FIVs) to the sanctuary, even when they

Karen, it's standard for many "Humane" Societies to PTS cats for reasons as
simple as "room" (as in, to make more room to take in more cats). I used to work
at the Memphis Humane Society, and they were not "no kill", they PTS healthy
cats with NO problems if they ran out of space. In addition
feed them in :)
