Anyone tested this? I am not so interested in Garritan etc, but are
there any other problems? I have ordered my version of 10.6, and want to
install it. Will I loose Finale?

I'm thinking about purchasing the SmartScore Pro software for use with Finale,
but wondered if there's a better program out there, or if SmartScore is the way
to go.
Any suggestions welcome!

I will admit that I haven't done all that much scanning for
work with Finale (or Sibelius) but when I did

I own an older version of SmartScore, and for the most part I find it to
be pretty effective. A friend of mine uses Visiv SharpEye, and I've been
very impressed with how well it scans. So much so that it is on my wish
list.
The differences between SmartScore and SharpEye, from my limited

I've never had much luck with music scanning software in the past, but I
tried the v5 demo of PhotoScore and liked it so much that I bought the full
version. I have version 6 which does a good job with standard printed music.
They have an option that reads handwritten music, but I've not tried
Amen, hence my initial post about the compatibility of Finale 2008.
After years of using (quite happily) Finale 2003, I finally upgraded
to 2008 two years ago. Plus I bought a 24 iMac. Kinda sad that I
won't be able to upgrade to Snow Leopard since I plan to keep on using

David,
This is a Garritan problem that Finale inherits. I know the people at
Garritan pretty well, and I think it is likely that they will be on
this quickly.

I was startled, not to mention dismayed, a few days ago to find that
there are apparently no articles in Wikipedia for any composer older
than Purcell! At the very least I could find nothing for Leonin,
Machaut, Dufay, Josquin, Palestrina, Lassus, Monteverdi, or Schuetz.
Seems to me there's
Of course, if programs are written well, like Apple's iLife stuff, or
MOTU's Digital Perfomer, or any number of other programs I can name,
they work just fine with 10.6...though ProTools
doesn't.supposedly (I'm not going to trying it anytime soon)

I have a friend working on a project using Finale Allegro. He came
