Dear Listers,
I am doing a transcription that needs a special measure number. The
situation is this:
I have measure 108 and I need to add measure 108a as a safety vamp
during the show. How is this done? I want the measure numbers to
begin again at measure 109
Hope this is clear.

This is good advice in theory. In reality, it is a bad idea to
exclude measures from regions by unchecking that box in the measure
attributes - unpredictable things can happen so you really should

Usually, I put the measure numbers on the first staff (show on Top Staff, so that the numbers appear). Uncheck Measure numbers in the Staff Attribute Dialog Box.
Before extracting the parts, I copy ONLY the Measure Number Items) from the first staff to each of the others. (You must copy from the

It's a bit annoying, but I usually switch to Mass Edit, double-click
on the measure so that the measure gets selected

I can't believe I am doing this for the first time, but I want measure
numbers to appear over the staff at the beginning of each system (no
problem so far) AND where I specify, usually at double bars (this is
the problem.)
I can force a measure

For the measure numbers
Hey Chris,
I do this all the time. Measure number tool - edit regions - in the
lower left of the dialog box, check Always show on top staff, and
it's done. Did I misunderstand something?
