decent reception amongst the Debian folk.

My vote is for /opt/fink.
Just to clarify this, there is nothing to vote on here. There are no
serious reasons to abandon /sw, but many good reasons not to do it -
one of them being backward compatibility, we don't want to force 99%
of fink users to redo their complete fink installation.

This has nothing to do with Mac OS X 10.1. I am installing Fink on Mac OS X
10.2 and Mac OS X Server 10.2 using the directions at:
http://fink.sourceforge.net/news/jag-bootstrap.php
Clean installs of the OS. No upgrades. Clean inst
instructions or the distribution that is suggested in the instructions. We
have discovered this because of the problems I was having with the audiofile
package, which the packager attributes to being that I was using the 10.1
repository instead of the 10.2 repository. Since I am doing this using cle
Perhaps because of the change
Justin just made? The only thing I can think of is that perhaps the
directions on the webpage are screwing me up. I noticed that it tells me to
have both the stable and unstable distributions listed. Is this correct?

I am following the instructions on this page:
http://fink.sourceforge.net/news/jag-bootstrap.php
Once that has completed, I issue fink update-all, and then fink install
audiofile. I then get the missing file and directory path errors that I have
been sending you.
x27;m just missing something here, but I
really, really, really doubt it. Are you sure that you have the correct info
file in both stable and unstable trees? Perhaps you are looking at just the
stable tree and I am using the unstable tree (which is recommended for
10.2)?

Actually, I have a script that runs fink selfupdate-cvs and fink update-all
every four hours. But, to humor you I did anyway and attached you'll find a
file created with the script command showing what happens.

This new O'Reilly book has a section on Fink, it includes notes on how to
create a Fink package (.info). Pretty nice stuff.
