I have a mare that had chronic diarrhea after she was weaned. We figured out
that good hay, alfalfa, orchard grass etc was the culprit. If I keep her on
our local very low protein hay, no diarrhea. I can see immediately if she's
had good quality

There is a allergy blood test that can be done which helped me figure out which
hays to avoid. Molds can also cause allergic responses which are present in
grasses and hays.

Could it be her teeth? If long stemmed grass causes more diarrhea maybe she

HmmIt might be the water. Our horses have similar diarrhea (some of them)
in Sonoma County, where our water is acid, and are instantly cured when we take
the to Cedarville, where the water is alkaline. Also, I moved a horse across
the street to a barn

Maybe she has an allergy? I had a friend whose horse was allergic to alfalfa
many years ago.

My mare has had chronic mild diarrhea. She is not sick, no fever, not

Debbie, if you are writing that the vet thinks the horse has an ULCER, then
I presume that that the medication would be for that.
Has the horse been wormed recently?
If it were my horse, I would also put it on some Bio-Sponge, ProBiotics and
