I've installed 9.1-RC2 after using svn to download /usr/src. Shortly after
rebooting into the new system, and just out of curiosity, I
ran freebsd-update IDS and was surprised to see that it reported 735 hash
mismatches. Some of these were for files modified locally like /etc/hosts
are used by the linker, so it looks possible (and probably better
than messing with symlinks in /usr/local/lib). Problems _might_

This is not constructive criticism, but just to give voice to how
great it would be if texlive could become an official port of freebsd,
integrated into the ports system!!!
I imagine it would be a lot of work to integrate it into the ports

There has been a lot of work done by developers to provide
binaries for FreeBSD with the main texlive

Why does uname reports p3 while freebsd-update indicates p4 state?
Hi,
if freebsd-update does not update the kernel uname will not show the
'correct' patch level.

Hi!
I saw that is no more iso for FreeBSD RC1. Now is for RC2. Is it possible or

Thanks in advance.

According to:
http://code.google.com/p/freebsd-texlive
I got the impression that the texlive is now available in the ports. My
understanding was that we no longer need to use portshaker(8). I've
updated svn of ports to r305607 and I still don't see texlive* in
/usr/ports/print or any

Hello all,
Is there any way for a process in user space to try to trigger
a SCSI LUN reservation in FreeBSD?
This would be a very useful thing to have when using a multi-port
storage device which can be simultaneously connected to multiple
systems.

Hi,
Let me be honest at the outset, I have never used an operating system other
than linux with enthusiasm.
But something about Linux always troubled me It's licensing, such
complex family of distributions which are so different from each other.
Which is when I came across FreeBSD. I fell

Which is when I came across FreeBSD. I fell in love with it, but yes I have
never used it yet, I have tried many times to install it, but the
installation process is really hard, I must say.
I really want to install it on my laptop and all my systems.
