I would like to have a splash display during boot. I have edited the
loader.rc to include only include /boot/loader.4th and start. The
loader.conf, i put only splash_bmp_load=YES and bitmap_load=YES. It
dosent work. Where am I going wrong.
Any help appreciated.

I cvsuped RELENG_6 and went through the usual motions to make the world,
kernel and install them. Everything was ok until I rebooted and started
KDE and the x-session stopped. I could login for other computers and
xorg was using 97% of the cpu.
After rebooting it 2x and using root the 2nd time

If your running a desktop, I'd recommend sticking with 32-bit. For a
server doing a lot of I/O, go with 64-bit. The Athlon will run very

under 6.1-PRERELEASE. This has been the case ever since ipw hit the
tree. Sometimes kismet works, sometimes it doesn't. A sure way to
trigger the panic is to switch between bss/ibss/monitor mode prior to

I got a machine with 8GB of RAM and plenty of disk space. I need gvinum to
manage big number of file systems but PAE enabled kernel does not compile
modules. I couldn't figure out how to get vinum statically compiled in the
kernel if that is the way to go. I am running 6-STABLE.
