here's an answer to one more Q, a little while ago i was doing something similar with booting (but not media boxes, and not using runlevels). you can select runlevels from boot time if u want, but you can also pass on custom variables. eg: something in your lilo.conf like this:

Al, thats happened to me when the bttv or tuner id number is wrong in modules.conf (bttv misconfigured) i bet when u rmmod bttv tuner btaudio (etc) the audio turns off, and as soon as u insmod bttv again the audio comes back on? if so its the bttv module(s) config. play with modules.conf.

Thanks Aubin, I've now got it working. As per David Amiel's post I needed to use libsdl cvs. One more thing, I have modified my MPlayer Args in local_config.py to use dfbmga:buffermode=triple. Can I easilly modify freevo to use this at startup. This may be of benefit to others as it doesnt

Channel names refers to two different things; one is the unique channel id (i.e. your C02wzzm.linkit.com) and the other is the more human one. Freevo uses the unique channel id for recordings and for listings, but the name can be either pulled out of the XML (using a script in CVS) or you can use

thats very odd, if it happened as soon as u turned ur pc on, id say hardware clitch, if its happening at boot time *some* sort of software/firware is activating the bttv audio, id guess anyway. It seems to start after you first start recording from /dev/dsp, way after the modules are
