You are correct. But after you have done the data recovery this should be the next logical step. No? Your point...? He will send his HD in to Maxtor, they will replace it and KEEP THE OLD ONE, he will have a blank drive and no data. Anyhow, it may simply be corrupted, not actually failed. --
