I didn't find any Wallstreet upgrades at Daystar. Wegener's prices
seem quite for a G3 upgrade to 400 MHz.

i've been meaning to fix my 250 wallstreet for some time now, i've
got the sound card/power supply part to replace, i'm getting more
ram to install (2 x 256), and now i'm thinking... is it worth it to
buy one of those sonnet crescendo upgrades?
owc lists two models, one is a g4/500 upgrade

I just acquired a used ADS USB 2 port USB pcmcia card ( got it to enable a

I plugged it in to the top slot, and a little empty box showed up on the

Yup.
the lower slot should be low profile DIMM,
Yup.
i should use SDRAM memory of 100Mhz or greater PC 100, and use ram with
2-2-2 speed...
The wallstreets can use 66 Mhz Ram for either WS1 or WS2. Evidently
the Ram isnt clocked
I did remove the PRAM battery and the processor in an earlier attempt
with no results.
I just tried removing the power board and the machine refused to do
anything.
Since the logic board swap failed, I feel that leaves me with one of
two choices: The sound board or the power board.
My son's Wallstreet won't boot (at all, at all).
When I plug it in the little green light lights and I can hear what I have
to think is the HD spinning, but nothing else happens.
Thats the fan spinning up. This seems to happen if your PRAM battery is dead.
Do you get a boot chime ?

You were right about the next step, then. Check and make sure

How important is the pram battery in the Wallstreet?
At $45 shipped and involved installation, how much
difference would it make for a unit with a so-so
battery that's usually plugged in?
A wallstreet should still function with a dead PRAM. If you want to
keep the date and time correct you

Hi Folks,
Can anyone identify this laptop I please?
Its a G3 PowerBook, one that looks like a Pismo, but its not, its
much thicker than a Pismo. It has a black keyboard, and its specs
are 233MHz, 2Gb HD, 32Mb RAM, although I have upgraded it to
I have enough parts for maybe 2 more Wallstreet 2's if I can get CPU's for
them. I want to get some other upgrades that would cross over between the
two. Specifically hard drive, ram, wireless card, CPU, and USB.
Ebay is the easiest source.

I've actually had an external monitor hooked up this whole time for that
very reason. It ended up simulcasting on both.
I got it to work! But it won't work with the keyboard. If I hook one of the

Is there a processor upgrade for a powerbook G3
Lombard (either a G3 or G4)?
TIA.
Pete.
Daystar and Wegener media sell upgrade cards, although you have to
send your CPU in.

If it boot chimes and the HD seems to be working, but you get no
video, this most likely means you have a Wallstreet 1 CPU (233/no L2,
250, 292 MHz) on a Wallstreet2 motherboard (Rage Pro LT video
chipset).
I have a 292 and 233, but the one that isn't labeled is this:
ck8241xxbkeaw (kinda
Does the CPU card in question have both L2 chips next to the CPU, or
one cache chip on the front of the card, and one on the backside ?
Mad Dog
Both are next to the CPU, with the label U3 and U2 above them. Both have
Motorola markings on them. There are 4 SEC chips that look like RAM/Cache
that
Just to clarify:
Wallstreet II motherboards had a Rage LT chip on the bottom? That's how I
tell the difference?
My CPU's are labeled, one is a 233MHz, no cache, found some pics on the web,
and the other is a 292MHz. ALL the mobo's I have have the LT chip on the
bottom. What's weird is a couple
Got a WS 1 mobo with a 292MHz CPU, I checked the bottom and made sure it was
a Rage LT (not a Pro) and the CPU is labeled as a 292MHz. I hooked
everything up and when I plug the AC in it powers on, LED lights up, FAN
spins, then it shuts down. Press the power button it dongs but NO power LED

I would first try reseating the processor card (if they are the
G3 Series machines, AKA Wallstreet.

Ok, I took all of them apart so I had a pile of parts then I started
swapping stuff out. Now I get it to power on and dong, but then no video,
and the CPU heats up so I assume it's on. I've
All of the advance setting are turned off (not checked in the check box)
Do I need to turn on Processor cycling or any of these other settings.

My guess was that with Processor Cylcing enabled the machine would
try to go to sleep while playing a DVD, which throttles down the CPU.

i want to know if this is possible: can i install tiger in dvd in a

I have a 300mhz wall street that has the DVD card and player. plenty
of ram and running 9.2.1. Why after 10:00 mins or so of running a
movie it will start to stutter and not play correctly. Is it
something with the player, the card, or the software and how to
correct it. I usually run this
Why not just get the L2 cache replaced ? Daystar will do it for ~$30
+ shpping, IIRC.

IIRC that is only with a G4 upgrade.
Mike
They can replace the L2 with A G3 or a G4, but it might be tied to
purchasing the new CPU. Its worth asking them if they will change
out only the L2 cache. if Daystar wont do it Wegener might.

In a not so small nutshell, I have a lombard and have installed OS X
via a firewire external HDD. All is grand. I repeated the process on
a slightly smaller (30 vs 20 gig) and it is an abject failure. It

Does anyone know of a USB/Firewire combo card usable on a WS ?
