I have a wallstreet 292 and haven't been able to get panther installed,
using a15 or a16. I will either get the 'this computer is not compatible'
or whatever that message is, or a circle with a line thought it when it
reboots. I REALLY want panther on here. I've got 10.2.8 right now and it

Use a14 from OS 9. a11 for instance gave me all of those problem you
mention, so I used a9 then.
I will either get the 'this computer is not compatible'
or whatever that

I own a wallstreet and beige g3 tower. I'd like to upgrade them to OSX. I
recall reading that these two computers were only able to run early
versions of OSX. What is the latest OSX version each of these computers can
run?
TIA

Well, OS X is now on the Wallstreet! I took out the new memory I
bought from OWC and replaced it with the original 32MB chip that was in
the lower slot. Started up the machine and there it was. Installed
without a hitch.
But this morning the machine did not want to start up. I had to take
But this morning the machine did not want to start up. I had to
take out the HD (Travelstar, 30GB) and tap it. After doing that, it
started up just fine. So that means I need to find a means to
shield it?
I used a double edged razor blade as a 'shield' and have had no
problems since

What could cause this problem? Bad PRAM battery? What kind of issues

MY G3 mounts an OSX install disc. You may try pressing c (or is it d?) at
start up to force it to select the cd.
CD-RWs are not recognized by the internal g3 cd tray. A peripheral device
may recognize them.
Don't worry their not particularly useful, in my opinion.

NOT copper! You need to use steel. It has to be magnetic.

Yes, you need a material that conducts the magnetic flux so it doesn't
get to the magnetic reed switch. However I think what you are calling
tin is really plated steel. Elemental tin is not magnetic. Tin cans
aren't tin anymore, they are coated steel.
I trimmed the ends off an blank steel PCI

Precisely. It's got to be a ferromagnetic material with a
sufficiently high permeability to contain the flux so it doesn't
reach the reed

That would be ferromagnetic. Paramagnetic materials would be too
weakly magnetic to do the job. It's the relative permeability, or µr
that matters.

This sounds all too familiar to me, running a Lombard 333 G3.
