Not always cheap but Gotta Love-em
have a relative abundance of Wallstreet RAM

My Fellow PowerBook-philes,
I was wondering -- is the RAM on a Wallstreet compatible with the RAM on
a Pismo?

I have a wallstreet with 512 mb kingston ram, when i look at kingstons site
it seams to be the same memory they sell for wallstreet and pismo, pb100/256
can i use the ram from my wallstreet in a pismo?

I was not able to get to 512 ram even with name brand ram in my
Wallstreet. This was probably due (in part) to the Powerlogix upgrade
card I also installed. Some readers have reported having the upgrade
card and the 512 ram, while others had the same problems. As far as I
know, no one really

I believe the reason for one Low Profile is that a larger one won't fit
on the underside of the processor card. Not enought clearance between
the DIMM and the logic board.

It's because a full sized SO-DIMM is too long to fit. The RAM slot
is too close to the edge of the daughter card, and

Thanks, Kind Folk, for your thoughtful input!

If I'm upgrading the Ram in my Wallstreet 233, is it permissible to use a
pair of low-profile 256MB SODIMMs in it, instead of one high and one low
profile? Will I still get 512MB of usable RAM?
Thank you!

I was not able to go above 256 mb in my Wallstreet (128 in each slot,
Kingston Memory) with the Powerlogix 466 processor installed, anything
above
this gave the window breaking sound and no start-up.
Using the stock card from Apple (233mhz), I was able go higher to 384
mb.
Is there any trick
I would have to think that your #1 theory would be more likely, since
according to Powerlogix, the cards were all the same (this could be the
problem if half of the cards were made with the address wiring different).
You actually captured the rom in flash using a small utility from original
card
I have seen many posts with upgraded ram for the Wallstreet, well above
Apple's max limit of 192.

is working famously. I think you might want to try some other
sodimms.

OK Bus/Ram/MHz question. they made a 233, a 266, and a 300 Mhz of the powerbook
I have. They all run with 66MHz bus. If the bus is 66Mhz, shouldn't all the
processors end in mulitplues of 3? And if the bus is 66MHz, why do they use PC-
100 ram. And my biggest question, will PC-133 work?
