Generally yes, when getting obscure errors drop the CFLAGS.. and you WERE running some really funky CFLAGS :). I would actually recommend dropping to -O2. In some cases O2 is actually faster than O3 IIRC. If that doesn't work.. try recompiling everything with your new CFLAGS. There's no reas

In have had this problem with a standard athlon t-bird 1.4 It started when gnome2/gcc3.2 came out. Found that cflags, specifying i686 instead of athlon helped but didnt cure the problem. Extra cooling also didnt do a thing, despite a 10 degree C temp drop under full load. A curious problem was

I rebuilt glibc with very basic (no extra!) flags/optimisations(and most of the system) via packages on an old cyrix 233 system (as I couldnt build them on the athlon) - no change :( Once underclocked, I rebuilt it all on the athlon with athon-tbird, -03, -pipe etc and its stable, and seemed faste

Either the emerge is screwed up, or I am an idiot. Ive never used gkrellm, but I read *everything* in ../docs after the install, and all that got installed was a server daemon. The docs even refer to gkrellm client attatching, and there are no command line switches or anything to get it to work.

It is independent of kernel: I have a number of original kernels (all gcc3 though) and those compiled before this problem are NOW unstable whereas they were fine before. This included gentoo sources, lolo, openmosix etc. gcc2.95 is a furphy as why was the system stable on gcc3.x for approx 9 mont
