Hi!
Since a little accident, involving a full harddisk and a netork breakdown at
my ISP, my (wireless) network doesn't start at boot time anymore. I have to
bring up the network interface and add the default route by hand by typing

Hi!
since a few days I find in every outpit of "emerge -Dup world" the following
lines:

[ebuild U ] dev-perl/libnet-1.16 [1.13]
If I do a "emerge libnet db" it end with

Hi!
During the boot I get the message
Cupsd: Child exited with status 99!
cupsd dont show in a ps aux. A later call of
# /etc/init.d/cupsd start
gives "cupsd already running", but there is no cupsd running and the printing
doesn't work. If I call
# /usr/sbin/cupsd

Hi
As an open minded KDE user, I take a look at gnome from time to time. But now
I'm running out of disk space, so I decided to remove gnome. After trying
"emerge -C gnome" and seeing still a lot of gnome-base packages installed I
unmerged these by hand by "emerge -C ".
But now a "emerge -Dup

Hi!
updating dev-perl/PDL from 2.4.0 to 2.4.0 fails here during the

Hi,
since I've upgraded to version 0.9 k3b takes nearly 2 minutes to startup.
Started as root I'll get the splashbox, saying "scanning for devices", as
normal user even the splash screen doesn't show up. After 2 minutes
everything works normal. Before the upgrade k3b showed up in 5 to 10 second

Hi!
My first try emerging Mozilla 1.4 ended with an error about
a missing C shell. That dependency was ignored by the ebuild,
nor is it mentionend on http://www.mozilla.org/build/unix-details.html.
After emerging csh the compilation now stops with
/var/tmp/portage/mozilla-1.4/work/mozilla/extens
It just doesn't compile with -O3, switching to -O2 solved the problem.

Hi!
I noticed today that I have linux-2.4.20-gentoo-r3, -r4 and -r5 sources
on my hard disk, working and backup kernel are both r5.
#emerge clean
tells me there are no outdated packages on my system. I understand
that the kernel sources are an important part of the system, but since

Just took a sharper look: there actually is a "app-xemacs/xemacs-eterm" ebuild

After

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:
