Hi all, I seem to recall that loading multiple USB controller drivers can cause problems on some systems. You might try unloading all of these with rmmod, then loading just one, and see if your drive will work. I believe for most systems the ehci_hcd driver would be the preferred one.

well, this is a good question. Actually i'm not seeing any incredible boost in performance, excluding a reduced need of RAM memory. I would like to add that these extra RAM saving is really very useful in increase the responsiveness of all the system and thus apparent extra speed.

Hi Richard, Those escape characters are recognized only by the getty program, which is used for console logins. You should still be able to use the color setting escape sequences, since those are terminal escapes. But the substitution stuff is getty specific, and will not work with ssh.
