Yes, we deffo need more work on this to be done. The start is good, but it
needs a lot of polishing to make it work properly!

What I am calling for (The reasons should be self explanatory):
1. A method for creating a lobby "on" a particular server.
2. The ability to restrict (using Steam Groups) who can initially create
that lobby.
3. Those who can create lobbies on my server should be able to have full

I found something strange in the log.
After a few round of l4d it was time to do other things, so I disconnected.
A other person is falling in for me and continue with the other 3. But after
I disconnect and check the log I see that I'm still in the server:

This post has won. It solved my problems with L4D disconnecting

Yeah its a great plugin. But Regular players can't vote kick other players
also. Hopefully, he/she will add a feature like that in the future.

I am not using SourceMod and my L4D server is experiencing this issue
from time to time. I have changed nothing at all... just downloaded
using HldsUpdateTool and ran it.

This doesn't actually fix anything. I have removed it on some of my
servers and they have the same issues as the ones that have it on.

Is anyone running SourceMod? I've read that disabling the 'Client
Preferences' plugin can help to alleviate this problem, though it's not a
guaranteed fix as others have experienced some issues with the latest build
of SourceMod.

If you use SourceMod, you can use this plugin:

I'll try to get a console log from a player and the server when this
happens.
There are no custom sounds on the server. There are no downloads at all.

There is a Sourcemod plugin that lets you restrict votes to people with
certain permissions on the server

The Steam browser fetches many servers at one time. Your internet connection
may not be powerful enough to handle all those connections, and thus you get
a high latency. If you're having trouble with it, set your internet rate
lower in the Steam settings.

Good Morning,
More specific : See if you can get someone to send you a screenshot of
the console when these lag outs / crashes occur, or pull that log.
Reason I ask is that it looks to be another issue with Netchannel overflow.

Our servers are based in Chicago, Windows 2003 OS
Checking on our TF2 server, I was unable to find it in the Steam Browser
Internet Tab. Removing all filters and refreshing for All pings and All
Locations, I finally can see it with 500+ ping !!!
Ping, however, shows as 41 on the Steam Favourites
I'm not saying I'm right here.. but maybe the effects you see in-game from
using sv_cheats 0 are what valve intended for vs mode? Afterall, why would they
go to the effort of coding the melee nerf etc? (especially when it's quite
accepted that the standard melee is over-powered).

I've seen that if from a coop server (4 players) I load a VS map, I stay
with maxplayers=4.
If I load the map with hlsw with no player connected to the server,
maxplayers is set to 8
So I think you have to make sure nobody's on the server while you change
from coop to vs to update maxplayers.
