I need help i made a cs.s server and i did everything it told me to do on steam
and it comes up on a lan server, i used to make servers back in 1.2 1.3 1.4 1.5
now with steam it's dumb, my exec is set at this
C:\srcds\srcds.exe -console -game cstrike +maxplayers 32 +map de_dust +sv_lan 0
TF2 desperately needs multi-threading, even at 24 players a server will
just sit on one core losing tick, 32 players even worse. DoDS isn't as
nasty but can get pretty cpu intensive.

The only way I have figured out, is to restart the server

The server would fill it up with survivor bots, and it would just stay on

Changing map is an easy fix though.

Ive noticed that my servers sometimes stay on with 4 survivor bots when all
the human players leave. Does that prevent lobbies from joining?

Yea... my community is actually doing that today/tomorrow. One problem we

This is where the redirect method works really well. All you have to do is
change your motd and on the next map change it will move everyone over. Then
you change the server name and leave the motd like that for a week or as

This is a good reason why (and I don't know why more GSPs don't...)
use DNS for your servers. All of my TF2 servers run at
tf2.packhead.com. L4D at l4d.packhead.com -- they all are CNAME's
right now as they all point to the same physical server...
In a few weeks I've got a brand new server
but steam doesn't let you add servers by dns, only ip, right?

You can add to favorites by hostname, but it only stores the IP address
so it will not auto-update unless they re-add it.

Exactly, so using DNS on Steam doesn't help. Only handy when people
always use the connect command in the console, but well... who does that?

Hum -- guess we just use it differently in our community, we have a
steam link (steam://whateverthisis) to the DNS name, so it works for
our community.
That is a little annoying -- I don't use the server browser (as I
always use the community link).. Guessing it's been like that since
