Does anyone use the UDPsoft ping booster and see a difference? Any opinions on
using a pingbooster? I use one on a server, but really is it doing me any

if you want to restart your server, you have to make a config with this:
exec banned_ip.cfg
writeip
exec banned_user.cfg
writeid
quit
so that the bans get saved before you shutdown the server

I already have:
exec banned_ip.cfg
writeip
exec banned_user.cfg
writeid
in server.cfg. Shouldnt that do it? After I restart my server, the
banlist is empty. I have to copy back my "master ban list" then do exec
banned_user.cfg to get it back. Weird.

Nice trick!
I'm currently working on a java application that will provide a global ban
system (on real time) across an unlimited number of hlds/srcds servers. It'll
be published on SourceForge as soon as I finish the support for Source protocol.
Happy new year for everyone ;)

Why is it that most digesters seem to have such an extraordinarily tough
time with this simple concept?

Yeah, I did that. And the banlist stays there as long as I dont restart
the server. Through map changes and all. However, the moment I restart
the server and i check the banned_user.cfg, its empty.
