Just wondering if Alfred could comment on these error messages. I have
never experienced this with my demos, but I was watching someone else's
demo and saw these errors. Just wondering if you had ANY idea why or
where they came from.

No, as I wanted to do more than just restart the server once I was able
to do this.

This is what I see on the server console. So the command is getting to
the screen, but not in a way that it understands.

can you alter the hlds_run script to do what you wanted once the
server is killed and it starts the 'restart' stuff? I've got mine
randomizing the mapcycle, so presumably it shouldn't be any more
difficult to do any number of things in the same spot.

I used:
%screen -x cs -X -p0 eval stuff exit^m
and it worked perfectly. All I can say is wow, there's a lot more to
doing that than what I got out of the man page. Thanks Ian, I doubt I
would have
good stuff, nicer to have the server 'quit' than just kill the

Do the following:
apt-get install ia32-libs
Assuming you use Debian :)
That fixes the problem and makes hlds_updatetool.bin work at 64 bit.

I give my users access to their entire hlds_l or hlds_source dir. If
they choose to run a hacked version that's up to them. As a provider

Yes lots of linux installs ftp give access to
everything in the users home
The fact you provide them with ability to run it doesn't remove
your duty of care to ensure they are not doing anything illegal

Very simple, the hlds_updatetool.bin is written in and for 32 bit

It's looking for some 32 bit libraries, which you have just installed.
The server itself will run in 64 bit mode when started, no worry :)

Also... Why is it letting 95% of clients connect.
If it was just a tcp outgoing issue I'd expect all client or the majority of
clients to be dropped.
Its just seems to be 5% of people.
It really doesn't feel like a blocking or loss of packets or lack of packet
transmission.
