i can confirm HL1's sv_enableoldqueries does not work as its counterpart
in HL2 do. the problem is i have script written in old queries format
which doesn't work now.

In general the benchmarks I have seen show 64-bit binaries running on a
64-bit OS run the fastest. This is due to the eight extra registers the
processor makes available under that circumstance. I have
my experience with 64bit intels suggest that its rather a pointless
addition.
Personally I'd go option #4 which is sell it and get some real 64 bitters,
but its probably too late for that now.
My choice would be between option 1 which is a known thing, and option 3
which is somewhat
