ZoneAlarm is notorious for blocking stuff it should not - even when it isn't running. Anytime I trouble shoot a connectivity problem, one of the first things I do is make sure they are not running ZoneAlarm or any form of Symantec security, as both of them are known to block things that should not

I have confirmed the following: FreeBSD 5.4 - modded linux_socket.c and non modded on an Asus board (with or without HT Fails) The Same configuration, with an Intel Board, HT on, also fails, however with HT off, it works flawlessly, somehow HT is affecting all of this, and its board specific too.

Using any cheat program can result in a ban, no matter the subset of its functionality you actually use. If you want to alter cvar values then set "sv_cheats 1" for the period you want it altered. Using cheats at any time is a violation of the Steam Subscriber Agreement (and always has been). -

That wont work as it requires additional kernel dependencies. tbh I've only ever had issues with the update tool when I'd had a bad install. Deleting the entire dir has always fixed it. Out of interest what's the backtrace. N.B. to get a full backtrace you will need to symlink the required libs
