Hello,
I am going to try Linux for the first time as a HLDS.
I have windows HLDS setup.
I know I can install Linux side by side with windows.
But I want to know if the windows files (maps, sounds, etc.) can be salvaged on
the same box and transferred to the Linux side, then remove the windows

At the moment, this is not the case Harry. Using the valve.rc method, no
client plugins can be prevented from being loaded. LSS can force cvars to be
whatever the client chooses them to be (Just like SourceMod, or any other
plugin for that matter). This is including mat_wireframe (or whatever the

I heard that KAC can stop LUA users. I still agree that plugins should
have been disallowed on public servers a LONG time ago, and hopefully
Valve does work to block this. Al
Actually, from what I can recall. You cannot make an Aimbot with LSS in it's
current public state. Sure there are trigger bots which are close, however
you cannot actually make an Aimbot. The rest rely on cvar exploitation,
which hopefully VAC will catch onto since it is an external application.

This Lua crap on the client side is getting way out of hand.
aim-bots
wallhacks
speedhacks
as well as being able to crash the servers with it.
Thanks for trying valve.
I hope theres still a fix in the works and it's not just set aside to work
on something else.

No. What we should be doing is pushing our dear Valve to take security
at least somewhat serious. One might think Valve learned something
when they got hacked some years ago and maybe they did, but could we
please see that reflected in your software? How did this end up being
a discussion about DHC
At last! I do hope we will soon get these changes in TF2 (and other
games as well I suppose) as well.

Hi:
All orangebox based game servers crash with the rcon fllood exploit. I tried
lot of plugins like rcon lock, etc but seems that the only way to stop it 100%
is to block the tcp rcon port. rcon_banpenalty is useless also.
iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport MYPOERT -j DROP

Yep, decided to "trick" nemrun into forcing a manual update with

I'm not stupid. Yes, I am using CSS Beta.

I agree with Steven and I would even add:
All the last update on CSS for example are taking in account bug fix
requirements from the community to make this game better.
I don't know many games that are that old that keep being updated. The
release time have also improved, we even received a warning
- Added check to prevent clients using plugins from connecting to VAC
secured servers.
Thank you,
Kyle.
