Thanks for all the advice...
A special thank you to Dave Weiner. I'm based in Sweden so getting you to do
the job was never likely to be a realistic option! I'm going to have a go at
replacing the corks with gasket material. I've prepared the way by converting
your fractions of an inch int

I think this is a problem with out supply and demand economy, that every
thing is getting more specialized, we forgot things such as auto mechanics
80 years ago did not have spare parts, they had to make replacements; even
ball bearings.

I liek my Trumcor mute. It has a fine muted sound in all registers.
However, my friend is still playing on the same H & B mute he bought in the
early 60's. His corks also fell apart. He bought cork at the hardward
store, cut it in strips & glued them to his mute. He had to exper
