Wiki-page-style how-to with interest (reading it I realised I didnt make any of

One thing one could do is compare it with Bing/Google maps and check if the
roads look more or less
the same. I think thats allowed as long as I dont copy stuff over.
Any other ideas?

mapping as it is an
emergency situiation with (hopefully) more inexperienced mappers, validation is
needed I think.

Reading this about the splitting of tasks made me think:
In the future, we/a programmer could add a "join back together"-button
if someone accidentially split a task in too tiny bits?

I think it would be better, although maybe more time consuming,
to fix the export and not start adding / changing things in OSM that are
against the current and well established scheme. But as i have no idea
