Hi Charles, Yes, when you copy the typically-used ISPF GE characters (boxes, and a few others I think), Vista converts them to something hopefully a little more useful in ASCII. Same with screen prints. This is to try to avoid font problems on the printer and when copy/pasting ASCII text.

Hi Rupert, I don't think that's the case here. If I log onto a session using W7, all looks good. If I log on using the exact same procedure using W10, it is messed up. I'm thinking, like John McK, that it has to be either a font or character set on the W10 boxes as we have them configured.

lftp. (LFTP) it's free. open source from homebrew, macports or download. Scriptable and supports full TLS over ftp. Does USS and datasets. Will also do certificate based auth too. Nothing else even comes close. Learning curve is not terrible and it's well documented. Accept nothing less ;)
