I have a CMS user that is trying to purge his RDR
files from his RDR queue. He issues the PUR RDR ALL
command and gets the READY message back but the files
are not purged.
I end up logging on to MAINT and purging his files.
Has anyone ever run into this?
Thks,
Bill J.
Does he have a PURGE EXEC in the search order?

Subject: PUR RDR ALL not working
Hi Rich,
No, but he has something called PUR EXEC.
So, it would appear that when he entered the command,
it tries to execue this PUR EXEC instead of the CP
command.
Thanks for the question, I am not sure if O would have
found this.
Thanks again,
Bill J.

That is a common support headache - someone who creates a program having a name
that matches a system command or a standard abbreviation of one.

Yes, thanks again for your help. F.Y.Il the user
tried it by entering PURGE instead of PUR and it
worked. Amazing, eh?

I am considering using the ICHPWX01 to enforce a
user password naming convention on RACF/VM.
Question - documentation states that the exit must be
able to run in an XA-mode virtual machine that is
using the 370 accomodation facility.
Is this facility still available is zVM 5.2?
The BOF went pretty well on Wednesday. I took back a number
of suggestions, and some volunteers. Ill be posting an updated outline
shortly.
Ive created two mailing lists (vct-newusers and
vct-announce) for further discussion of this project to avoid cluttering this
list. If youre
Since you determined the user has a PUR EXEC, they could also use CP PUR
to not run their exec.
Depending on the user, sometimes I like to emphasize/teach the
difference between CMS and CP commands.
i.e. PURGE is not a CMS command, but it works in this case because SET
IMPCP is ON. If

Probably a little of both.

Yes, but a few of them die everyday.
Its a good thing that we have SFPURGER around along
with VMUTIL and its WAKEUP file. One less thing to
worry about.

Here is a quick and dirty method:
Set up a userid with just the class you're interested in and then use
QUERY COMMANDS from it. There's only a handful of classes so it would be
easy to do this for each class.

If your system has been set up with 'ENABLE SET PRIV' in the system
config you can display all the commands by class with an id setup with
'ABCDEFG'.
See 'HELP CP SET', go to related PRIVCLASS. By issuing + or - you can
display all commands via 'COMMAND' for each class you set.
Regards,
Unfortunately, I believe the manual sorts the commands alphabetically. On top
of that several are in multiple classes. Also, if the commands are modified in
the SYSTEM CONFIG to create new classes or move them to a different class, then
the commands are not what the book says. I liked to move
