The BKS and BKI files exist. The BKS file is used by IBM's library server to create page http://publibz.boulder.ibm.com/cgi- bin/bookmgr_OS390/Shelves/hcsh2a80. The BKI file is used to perform searches from that page. SOMEONE created them. Today the missing link has reappeared -- possibly

You can define as many LPARs as your machine type allows. Each LPAR will have (one or more) standard CPUs or (one or more) IFL CPUs assigned to it but not both. A CPU can be assigned to more than one LPAR. If you wish to use both standard and IFL CPUs you must have at least 2 LPARs defined.
