Stephen, It depends on how long ago you cancelled the job. If it's still listed on VMSCHED QUERY, you can do a CHANGE on the job and it will become active again. The PURGE configuration file record specifies the number of days that cancelled jobs remain in the database.

The CPLOAD MODULE was a combination of both. So, look at the size of the CPLOAD* MODULEs. At IPL time, the 64 bit section of it was activated if the HW was capable. Since z/VM V5, this feature went away, only the 64 bit version remains. Note there is also a Q CPLOAD command. 2007/7/26, Edward

To install from DVD second-level, the first-level system must be z/VM 5.1 or later. There are programs on MAINT 2CC that you need for the DVD install, and 5.1 was the first release that had them. I suspect that if you have access to a z/VM 5.x system, you could copy over the MAINT 2CC disk to you

To install (hence run) a z/VM 5.2 or 5.3 secondlevel, you need z capable HW, and the base VM system must be running in 64-bit mode too. I didn't read the books, but if you use tape, you surely can install under 4.3. The isntallation from DVD or via FTP may have different pre-reqs. -- Kris Buele

With WAKEUP you only get the command to wake up for various events. And yes, HELP WAKEUP tells you all about it. But, to make a server like VMUTIL, some REXX code (or EXEC1 or EXEC2 if you insist) is needed around WAKEUP. Ages ago, IBM shipped a VMUTIL server with some execs written in EXEC2.
