Marian,
When I install z/VM it asks for RSU disk. Is it possible to use latest
RSU downloaded from shopzseries at this time
Once (VM 5.3 timeframe I believe), someone suggested that this could be
done. So we installed z/VM and skipped the RSU. Then we ran IPWIZARD to
get z/VM on the

The initial RSU of a VM release is often fixing serious errors, your
experience confirms this.
But, if you don't need FTP to upload a newer RSU (e.g. can use PCOMM
filetransfer, or a minidisk of a VM system hosting a secondlevel
installation, then one could consider skipping the initial RSU. In
Thanks Jim. That confirms what I found in another place and what a couple
others on the list sent me.

In my case it was that simple. There were no active links. I thought
there was more to do than just update the CONFIG file and detach from
system. Guess not. Thanks to all.
Thank you,

I'm upgrading our db2connect 8 to 9 and came across this tidbit.
Note: In previous releases, the DB2 Administration Tools, such as the Control
Center, were supported on all platforms. As of Version 9, the DB2
Administration Tools are supported only on Windows(r) x86, Windows x64
(AMD64/EM64T),
They dropped support for all x86 in 9.7.

Is anyone successfully mirroring DASD using Hitachi Universal Replicator (HUR)
for a z/VM environment with Linux guests? I know that there are challenges
because z/VM doesn't timestamp its I/O but Linux does. I'm being told that HUR
doesn't support Linux timestamps. Is that true? Allegedly,
I guess HDS would be the only ones that could tell you if they support Linux
timestamps or not. Technically, I'm pretty sure a Linux timestamp looks just
like a z/OS timestamp.Mabye they mean they don't support it because they
haven't tested it.
We run GDPS/XRC which relies on the
This is not really a problem since the Control Center and Admin tools
running on x86 can connect to DB2 LUW running on other platforms,
including Linux on System z.
