David,
It sounds like you have encountered a vendor that has a niche product
and is the only one that has this application or the vendor is not
wanting to sell very many packages!

Scott,
Also look at the profile exec for the VMUTIL box and see if it has a
'sleep' start a couple of minutes before midnight and the length should
be long enough to last at least 1 minute past midnight.

Your best bet would be to investigate the Velocity Software Suite, they
are the only ones to have the performance monitor for VM. You would
probably have to customize the reports that you would need but that is
fairly straight forward. Velocity also has an excellent support staff.

If you want to make some changes to the MITIME settings then you can put

I think that Stephen is right, contact Hitachi and make sure that the
drives are set up for mainframe opsys's. When we went from a Shark to
EMC, the EMC Techs did a lot to get the disks recognized by VM VSE. I
would hold them to the task until such time as you have operable disks.

put a barcode external label on the tape long enough to deal with the

Jon,
I have been successful in using DDR to copy the volumes. The one big step
that I originally over looked was to format the new volumes before the DDR
restore. I have just finished copying two LINUX guests to a new storage
array and it is now in production.
Loren Charnley, Jr.

I was forced to use the tape dump and tape restore, I also changed CPU's at
the same time. I would 'assume' that disk to disk would work the same.

That was the reason that I included the comment. I tried without the format
and when I went to bring up the instance, it was NOT satisfied with the LVM
and I could not get a clean boot. I don't know why but when I did the format
then the restore, it came up clean the first time.

At the time, that option went right over my head. I would think that this
would be a better way(faster).
