capable of playing TV signal standalone without a computer?
Usually, you can connect the AV out (RCA jacks, seperate yellow [video
signal] and red Balck for Audio left and right) to a laptop tuner card
plugged to the USB
As far my understanding goes this monitor tv is no different from any
other LCD TV (Bravia/Vierra etc) sets that can accept VGA/HDMI signals
from your PC/Laptop/consoles. just plug it in to the PC using
appropriate cables, VGA or HDMI and you are good to go. make sure

is no driver bundled with ubuntu for your tv tuner card make, and
hence it is not accessible. and the driver support of TV tuners card
