the accepted meeting day is the 2nd saturday of every month.. we were
having regular meeting but it got discontinued.. the main reason was
no new people were attending.. we had 5-6 people who were regular.. we
hav got to know each other so well that we can just call each other..

ubuntu 10.04.. i would suggest u try ubuntu 10.04.. it is an lts(long
term support) release n now it has released the 2nd service pack to
the lts release.. it won't have these issues.. non lts releases r for

if u want an experience that is similar to that being offered by ur
maemo, i would suggest u go for an android os.. it offers a really
polished n professional experience and brings with it all the benefits
of an opensource system.

used, open the file in vlc n look under codec details. only then will
we be able to suggest a solution..

i faced ur same situation when i started using linux.. i had a dialup
modem which only worked in windows.. i used to download .deb packages
using my dialup modem from windows which i kept as a dual boot.. then
it would show some dependency.. again i will download that n again one
more dependency
ur hard disk has bad clusters.. it cannot be corrected by softwares..
if u format a drive, ubuntu will mark all the clusters which has a
problem n will not write data onto it.. thus u can prevent data
corruption.. it will also check to see if the bad clusters can be
used, thus some bad clusters
internal dialup modems don't generally work with linux.. the makers of
the modem only writes drivers for windows.. so with the drivers
windows knows how to deal with them.. an opensource developer cannot
write the driver since the specification describing how the modems
work is not published.. the

thnx dhananjay.. da i am planning to separate some packages n just
give it as a zip file.. zip file will be about 60mb.. it will also be
included in addon cd.. the user can install it giving sudo dpkg -i –
force-depends *.deb.. the reasons for all that is given above.. all
the rest is in apton
srihari.. the addon cd would also work like u said. but it doesn't use
any scripts.. it is made as a ubuntu repository cd.. when u insert the
cd, it will automatically get added to repositories and will open the
add or remove programs. from there u can install the software u
want..
BTW, the

u can use ur camera as a card reader.. it is not that it wil only show
pics.. if it is a problem with only these files, probably they may be
corrupt..
cameras have different modes to connect to comp.. check if u r using
pictbridge.. it is used to connect cameras directly to a printer..
that mode
by default ubuntu displays the file extensions.. if u don't know what
a file extension is.. it is the thing after the dot.. eg:
something.jpg.. here jpg is the extension..

Vlc 1.1 can be run as root... Great news.. on trying to run vlc 1.0.5
on my ubuntu karmic as root it just throws the error..
VLC is not supposed to be run as root. Sorry.
If you need to use real-time priorities and/or privileged TCP ports
you can use vlc-wrapper (make sure it is Set-UID root and
raru, the browser in ur college definitely needs an upgrade.. u along
with ur interested friends should present this matter to ur
principal.. u could install firefox for browsing on xp or better u can
make ur computers dual boot with linux.. this would be a perfect soln
for all the virus problems
many of the google services including orkut have been discontinued for
IE 6. mozilla and many others had been trying to kill off IE 6.. now
google joins the team..

i mounted the iso image using archive mounter.. when i tried adding
the cd to software
archive mounter and gmount iso are not working.. they work just like
the check out feature.. and not by fooling the os into thinking that
an actual cd is inserted..
i hav created an apton cd with the various packages required.. i use
it for offline installation on systems without an internet
to position awn on top just go to the awn preferences and set the
orientation as top...
