Hi I need to know if there is a download manager for linux - that allows manual interupts and enables restarting from the point of stopping - (even after the machine is shut down and restarted). I do not use ftp or telnet to download from the net. So it will have to be those GUI kind of stuff.

ram u can try installing transcode through urpmi if you have a decent internet connection http://www.urpmi-addmedia.org/index2.php urpmi.updatemedia main contrib (I'm not sure.. which package transcode is on. ) urpmi transcode should get you transcode (it downloads about couple of MBs or so.)

Hi The only reason I wanted to use pcqlinux was because of the patches - I don't have access to an unlimted band width connection and wanted to make use of software loaded on. However - why would you advice against installing a patches distro ? Just to understand better. regards ram Sandip
