Without catching up on the details here I want to point out that some Mac
audio inputs are " line level " and need to be connected to powered mics.
We ran into that at the university when they got new mics.

The 7X00 Macs are good weight but too big to make good doorstops. However if
a trial of their weight holding capacity bears fruit I will not need to buy

can be infected.
Never saw any Mac OS with any sort of code infection. Nor heard of any
credible report of one in the "wild".

As far as picking up machines for low cost but with enough rsale after
putting effort and money for parts into it IMO the G4 Powerbooks would be
the area to look.
But then " low cost " is a quite relative term.
