Even though it returns 200, are you sure it's the correct format as

You should put an error callback in your ajax option. That might
trigger and help solve your issue.
You should also use Firebug for Firefox to help troubleshoot ajax
issues.

FF is behaving according to industry standards, it's IE that is in the

IE is so crap that:

The form being submitted does have a file being uploaded.
I've removed the ContentType from the .net code and now that works

Can anyone explain why this behaviour occurred? It worked fine in IE -

Yes, good point, Diego. This probably would happen if there is a file being
uploaded. Removing the ContentType header would solve the problem.
Sounds like wrong content-type or headers.

Just to make sure, can you visit the target resource manually in
Firefox and not get the External dialog? From the looks of it, it
seems like your server may be sending the wrong content-type, making
Firefox believe it's getting a file that should be downloaded instead

Thanks for your help Hamish,
I just got this working with the ajaxForm plugin.
"return false;" needs to be the _last_ thing it does, so move it to
the end of the function.. otherwise it hits return and quits the
function without doing anythig else.
eg:
$("#addShiftForm").submit(function() {
// do some stuff
return false;
});

I think you need to add "return false;" to the end of your submit
function.
This will tell the browser not to redirect to "addShift.php" after
running your function.
You should make the action page the 'non-ajax' alternative, so if the
function doesn't execute it can continue anyway.
On Dec 18,
I've been looking at this for a while and can't get this to work.
What I want to do is submit a form, but have the page not redirect to
the form page, but rather to refresh a div in the current page. This
should be simple, but everything I do ends up taking me to the
submitted form response page.
}
});
Please let me know if is fine and if I can commit this improve to Jquery
Forms Documentation.
