A few years ago I was thinking of making a Honiton fan (I am Still thinking
about it!!), and the Honiton specialist here in Melbourne suggested I draw
up a master plan, and then draw up each motif/spray separately. Work them
separately, and then place them on the Master Plan to work the

My dear friends I am so glad you are there to correct and inform. I am
working on a rectangle bucks point pattern that is about 4X6 inches. I have
it on a relatively flat cookie pillow. I didn't have any wrinkles in the
pattern to pin out on the edges when I put the pattern on the pillow. As I
Have you pinned down the pricking? When I pin down the corners (and longer
sides, if necessary), the pattern can't ride up because the pins are holding
it down. They're pushed all the way down flush with the pillow, so the

Hi everyone and Peter
Yes, I think your idea of making the motifs first then joining on the
cookie pillow is a good one - if your honiton pillow is all the round
you could use it like a huge roller, too, and make your border
continuous. I have read that honiton workers could have a piece on the

I've not worked with 300 bobbins at a time, but I can tell you how to tame
your bobbins when you have more than can be accomodated at one time on your

Another way to secure your pattern
For each corner of your pattern, run thread through a small hole in the
corner, then out to a pin somewhere at the edge of your pillow so that the
corner is held flat. Repeat several times from the pattern corner to the pin
and back again for each corner.
While I've been on holiday I visited Biggins and saw the most amazingly

What colours do you mean? As far as I know, here in Spain we can only get

ever found any.

I got spiders for our name tags at IOLI in Hackensack, NJ last year. I found them at
Wal-Mart in the craft section, but haven't had a look for them this year since I'm not
going to Harrisburg. Someone who is going might have a look at the local craft store
or Wal-Mart. I *will* have spiders

I finally found the script of the play I was looking for. When I was back in

Dear Friends,
Where were you on the 21 July 1969?
I was still undergoing my basic Army training prior to going to Vietnam. I
recall that the actual landing was at about 3:00 p.m. on July 21st here in

Hi everyone!
I came back from Alaska a little over a week ago and was too lazy to write

As for interesting things that happened in Alaska: lots of hiking,
