Hi folks,
I'm sure I have asked this before a couple of years ago or so but I can't
find the answer in all the posts for this group, but can anybody tell me
what the screw size is for the index pin for a 900. I can't remember if it
is a 5-40 or a 6-32 UNC or 6-40 UNF? I'm after stripping the thr
Hey folks
Spotted this on Legacy's CNC website. Ignoring the CNC part, the vice is
something anybody could build easily and adapt for the manual mills.

Nice touch to see where we all live. More from UK/Ireland than I thought -
nice.

Hi Tim,
The "new" look works OK for me. Not sure what to expect when the
classic view is no longer available so will just have to wait and see.
I haven't posted for some time to the group as have had major issues
with the house which has prevented me from doing work on the OM but
hoping to get sta
Hi Begat,
When I got delivery of my 900 I also had 2 x-axis split nuts sets and
no y-axis ones. I got on the phone to Roger in England, explained the
situation and he sent me out the correct y-axis split nut right away
free of charge. Excellent service - thanks Roger. Don't know if you

Hi Carl,
I am flying to Edinburgh where I was born and bred. Miss it so much,
but saying that I live near Dublin in Ireland, so it is only an hour's
flight. I've been to Dunoon and it is a beautiful little town. The
ferry from Oban to Dunoon is a great trip (when the weather is fine).

Hi all,
This is just a short note to wish a very merry Christmas and new year
to everyone in this group who all enjoy the wonders of the Legacy
Ornamental Mill (or have just bought one and are impatient to get
started). I am flying out to Scotland tomorrow (snow permitting at the
airports) to spen
Thanks Grant,
The pictures are excellent and I can relate all you say to the
pictures - being as accurate with the y-axis has its place just as
much as depth. Much appreciated - this is definitely something I must
pursue. Thanks again.

Hi Grant,
I would appreciate to see pictures of your y-axis digital scales set-
up. I have been thinking about it for a while but do not really know
where to start as regards the method of installation and how and where
it fits on the rails. Is the digital scale that comes with the z-axis

Woodcraft used to seel them until recently but I don't think they
stock them anymore. I got them shipped to Ireland without issues.
Best regards

Hi Greg,
Oven cleaner seems a bit drastic although I understand where you are
coming from - not sure what make the stuff you use is but the stuff I
am familiar with, the fumes alone would knock you out unless used in
well ventilated areas. Even a car parts/engine degreaser should do the
job - make

Tim,
If Legacy take many more accessories out of their production line for
manual OMs I think you may find your services in more demand from the
likes of us - I am assuming you are in the US so wonder on your
abilities to deliver to the UK/Ireland if need be? desperate times
call for desperate mea
Looks like legacy are moving out of the manual market and
concentrating all their efforts on cnc where the computer and software
take all the effort out of design and manufacture. A real shame,
especially for the likes of me, and a few others out there i'm sure,
who have only recently moved into th
Hi Curt,
I have the router extreme extension and to be honest I have had no
problems with it. It is simplicity itself to use, easy to access and
lock/unlock bits and would recommend it to everyone.

Hi Tim,
Here are a couple of links I refer to for a bit of inspiration - they
are not legacy based but anything relating to woodturning must be of
interest.

On the subject ot losing screws etc, can anyone tell me what size the
little 'grub' screw (not sure what you guys call them elsewhere in the
world) that locks the pin away from the index gear. Lost mine some
time ago and have to use a bulldog clip underneath the headstock to
keep the pin away from
In a brief reply to Greg's post, I understand that Legacy stopped
making the z-axis earlier this year - I made a request on this forum
and was lucky to find someone who had one going second hand including
router - works great. Fortunately the shipping was only from England
to Ireland so the extra c
Hi gentlemen,
Following up on an older story here, just to clarify that the bolt/
setscrew type needed to free up the MT2 taper piece in the headstock
is definitely 5/16" UNC - good guess Tim. It took me a while to find a
source for imperial (standard) fixings over here in Ireland, but

Hi all,
I recently bought the legacy 900, and have gotten a bit fed up trying
to look through the router base attached to the standard Y axis
carriage to see how the cut is performing - then I spotted the z-axis
upgrade on Magnates website, with its 'open' side and clear views, not
to mention the
