Maybe I didn't understand Ray's approach but I would chuck the pencil in
the router. Then lower the router so the pencil just touches the cylinder.
Then turn the X axis crank with the router off and the pencil will draw the
spiral line on the cylinder. Now with a flex able ta
I agree that is a straight forward approach. I don't think I could make a
series of equal distant cuts by eye. If I understand your approach you
would the pencil point on the cylinder and turn the X axis crew until the
distance desired is the length of the line. Then repeat for the next cut.

lowest speed of the router. I am so use to using Forsther bits for large holes
on my drill press I didn't think. Magnate does make plunge straight bits up

attached) is to the backside of the machine. Especially the new Z axis upgrade
mounting. This causes the carrier to not slide in step with the X axis screw
