Hi Wendy and Cliff,
Thanks Wendy - and you're quite right. To receive a timely answer,
ask things on list. I occasionally answer off list, especially when
it seems someone is having problems with basic computing stuff rather
than Legacy. I don't mind getting the odd query off list - but
Beth, I do not regularlu use the fromatting options, however, since seeing your
email I have been having a look at this.
As far as I can see what is happening is that the Spell Checker is trying to
change a lower case letter to an upper case. If you go to Options in the Spell
Checker and
Have you added them to the dictionary? It doesn't care
if what you say is a word isn't. I have added foreign
words, Norwegian, Swedish, German, Danish and French,
and abbreviations that I use. When it asks add to

But do no not forget that in doing so that (wrt the letters used as a code) a
lower case which should be an upper case will non longer be corrected eg. i

For Genealogy,
This can be very dangerous to add stuff to the
dictionary (as I mentioned). My favorite example is
legend, that an editor at a newspaper, showing off to
customers, changed all 'z' in the current edition of
the paper, to 'e'. Then to fix it he changed all 'e'
back to 'z'. Was he in trouble or what.
How can I keep the surety level from showing up on source citations?

I will use the option you suggested until the formatting codes are
removed from the text. The spell checker does indeed ignore the
formatting codes if the case sensitive option is unchecked. It is not
logical to include the codes in text for spell checking.

Geoff,
I had to close out Legacy and restart it in order to see that the new
version is available. I do not recall having to do that in the past.
Before closing out Legacy, I (1) clicked on the icon with two green
arrows and (2) clicked on Legacy Home, Family, Legacy Home, etc.

Legacy will automatically check for new news articles and new builds every

Dear all,
I have just downloaded the latest version.

The new version is supposed to have removed the necessity to also go

Hi Janis,
You need to be a little clearer about where you don't want to see it.
Do you mean when you look at a Source on the Assigned Sources Screen?
On the Output tab, you can check Show Source using Print Options.
I think that's the only place you can remove the Surety Level on Screen.
There must be a server problem, I am not able to log on to Legacy at all!
