Just re-install Legacy V7 again over the top of the one you've got and it
will skip most files and re-install charting. That will show up again in

I had the same problem yesterday. I had been using Legacy for some hours
and no matter what I tried it would not generate the surname index page. To
be more accurate it was generated but with '0' names. Like Ron I think you
mean web pages.
In the end I did a file/file maintenance/check/

Please don't be discouraged. I think you hit the nail on the head when you
said "I am going to get back to basics..".
If you're struggling with the stuff discussed here then I think you need to
just use and experiment with Legacy at your own pace and come back when you

You could view or print a 'Potential Problems' list and that will tell you
which sets of children are not sorted.
(Tools menu > Potential Problems).
