Another wishlist feature adding to what others have requested is an extra
backup option. I know there were legal/logistic issues when the Legacy
cloud storage option was removed. However I would like to have both a
"local" and a "remote" backup option. Local is local to the PC or home
network. Remo

A good list of suggestions so far. Some other possibilities outside the
legacy software itself:
- If your data is not local to your PC, network connections and
especially cloud connections could slow things down.
- Hard disks might be getting full or need defragmenting (older spinning

but the listed parents and DOB all line up.

all my "unknown" entries since it confused some of my searches and the
merge duplicate function. As Mary suggested, you can always add the missing

Brian's suggestion will work (I just did it). Three things:
- searching for wildcard=* will find everything including blank fields

Thanks - Likely I'll use some other date/location construct but bunching
the family names with a separator is nice way to go.

That is one way to do it. Another quick way to navigate to a frequently
used folder is to pin it in the quick access list.

I have a NAS on my home network and all my files are there in a common
folder. I have previously tried two clouds (Dropbox and OneDrive) and both
slow things down noticeably. The other issue I have had with cloud drives
is occasional weird program issues that need more than the file maintenance

A quick caution with duplicate children - some duplicates are real. For
example, when the first name dies an infant, the name might be reused with
a later child. Otherwise merge them is the better option since it gives you
an opportunity to collect all information fields vs. deleting a person and

Open you Deluxe copy of Legacy and go to the "Legacy Home" tab. On the
right you will see an update panel. If it is version 9.0.0.339 you are
updated. If not highlight the update link and it will download and install
for you.

x27;s with lower RIN's is generally best.
If you are merging because names were spelled differently, you might want
to preserve the second spelling (Alternative names). Likewise check your
citations, relationships, dates, media etc. after the merge.
Best advice, backup first and don't

with a later child. It taught me to always check a corroborating source
like a BDM site and not just assume there was a typo etc.
Overall I do like the way the merge/duplicate resolution process works. The
screens are very helpful. You just need to be patient.

Hi Dave
First up - running XP in a public environment like hotels and airports is
begging for all kinds of malware attacks.
To specifically remove the program, you might try CCleaner or any of the
other third party utilities that have uninstall features.
Safe travels and enjoy your trip

Thanks Cathy for the guidance. I'll be putting the webinar at the top of my

you send GED files.
A caution sharing GED files and dates - the US mm/dd/ date format could
cause problems if your cousin uses dd/mm/ date format. Where possible,
use a three letter month, Legacy can sort out the date in either order (dd
mmm yyyy or mmm dd )

Family Tree/Manage trees. Your tree should be listed and one of the options
is to export a GED. You won't necessarily get the media files back but you
would be able to recover the family file.
Good luck

I have a common network storage device mapped to the Z: drive on my home
PC's. This works well with Legacy data running on one PC and the working
folders on Z;.
I have tried running Legacy 9 on two PC's using a common folder on Z:. I
know I need to map the file locations (Customize 6.1, 6.2, 6.3)
ct options/print. You have some
ability to format the report, print to PDF etc.
