Check out MS Works Data Base. I find it easier than a spreadsheet.

How would you go about creating a DB?
Thank you.

Such a great reminder to not rely on "found" genealogies! They might
be a good starting point (or not), but they should always be verified!
A very good researcher had posted a genealogy which merged with my
line and went back to the 1500's - it broke down my brick wall, or so
I thought. Not long

On my tree I have a direct line that I will call SMITH. Unfortunately within
this Smith group there are several called John (all born around the same

June,
I too had a "sick" branch on my tree with all kinds of errors - in this
case mostly due to a guy named Gustave Anjou, a "professional" genealogist
in the early half of the 1900 who "created" genealogies - several in my
line and other genealogists had used his information for their own. So I

June,
You can unlink someone and therefore unlink their whole branch.
eg if you have a SMITH grandfather and you right click on him and unlink
from spouse, then you will have unlinked all his SMITH ancestors and
their families from your main tree - but they will still all be linked
together.
On my tree I have a direct line that I will call SMITH. Unfortunately within
this Smith group there are several called John (all born around the same
time) several called Michael (all born around the same time) etc many of
these being cousins or second cousins.
I have a feeling that I have put
