has MSS=0, and my Red Hat 7.2 system has MSS=40, the same as yours. I don't
really have any network problems with either of them, but mine system don't

dd if=/dev/dasda of=...
If you have VM, then you could use DDR, but only on a disk whos filesystems
are all either unmounted or mounted as read-only (otherwise the dump is

Well ... I saw the code for myself, and it doesn't match yours.
I tracked down the difference. The system that was showing all zeros had
been booted after writing the 2.4 kernel using silo. The kernel was never
re-written using zipl later on. Once I did that, and used the eckd0
bootstrap program that the new s390-tools creates, things are the way I

The only way I have ever done this is to logon to VM/CMS, and use the CMS
FTP client to pull the files down to the 191 A-disk. You can find a
numerous examples of that in the Distributions Redbook by doing a search on
the work "locsite."
