Really strange. If I do "case off", then I get lower case. If I do "case on"

I suggest you put 'SET RUN ON' as the last line in the PROFILE EXEC of
the Linux machines.
And, as a creature of habit, I habitually use '#cp disc#b'.

Sounds like you left the virtual machine up with an outstanding VM read on
