The 'chshut halt vmcmd LOGOFF' always changes back to stop when the system is booted. I issued 'chshut poff stop' and then issued the 'signal shutdown' and sure enough it logged off the guest. I don't know why it didn't when I first was testing this. At some point I will reinstall SLES 12

Hi Berry, SLES 12 doesn't have a boot.lvm as it uses systemd instead of system. The install of SLES 12 automatically created an LVM for the non-boot directories and it boots properly. Something is preventing the 'vgchange -ay' from being persistent. I will do some more digging to see
