Alcatel allows you change the IP, though that's only crucial if you use
PPTP on
both modems.
Yes, indeed, in my connection PPTP is much less stable PPPoE: back when I used
PPTP to connect on my Alcatel I had daily disconnections. Ever since I
switched to PPPoE I have almost no disconnetions.
P.S.

Hi,
I am trying to get the same Linux to connect to two different PPOE enabled
ADSL modems on the same LAN, one is ECI's and the other Alcatel. Has anyone
had experience with such a configuration?

Indeed that was what they've intended. However, their Samsung modems
have failed completely (from my understand they discovered a problem with
them) so they've stopped issuing them. The Rotal and others are causing
problems so Bezeq decided to order another batch.

Alcatels are pretty rare commodity now.
I've heard you can find some at BezeqStore but whether they've got some
in their inventory at the moment, who knows. I've also heard that Bezeq
have ordered more Alcatels. I wonder when we'll see those...

ough it's doing a better job
compared to Globespan PCI or Dynamode PCI (both of them are really really
crap, and I would dare to advice to avoid them under ANY cost, as well the
USB ADSL modems from Rotal - they're very good as a door step, and that how
much it costs to the ISP's).

Muli (and others),
Just for the record, examples of problems with ADSL modems such as the Samsung and
others can be easily found in Tapuz's networking and broadband forum.
